Thursday, October 22, 1964 TORSO IS FOUND, IN N.Y. LIMBS, 15 BLOCKS AWAY New York (AP) The torso of a woman was found on a west side basement stairway yesterday, and the arms and legs were discovered later 15 blocks away. A detail of 50 detectives searched trash cans and other containers in the area for the head of the woman, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. The torso was found by the superintendant of the building at 10th avenue and 43rd street where police theorized it had been placed sometime between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. The limbs were found beneath a staircase leading from the street to a basement at 433 West 28th street. A police medical examiner said fingerprints had been taken in an effort to determine the woman's identity.
