Thursday, October 2, 1969 Stamford Torso Murder Victim Identified As Canadian Beautician Stamford (UPI)Police in Stamford Wednesday identified the dismembered body of a woman through fingerprints as a missing beautician from Canada. Detective Captain Thomas O'Conner said the state police laboratory at Hartford confirmed the prints from the torso victim matched those of Margaret Mary Warburton, 20, of Pierre Fons, a suburb of Montreal. The woman's torso was found inside a suitcase wrapped in plastic in a coin locker at the Penn Central station here Sept. 20. O'Conner said an earlier examination of Miss Warburton's prints had established some type of pattern with the set obtained from the dead woman. A missing persons report filed in New York City showed that Miss Warburton traveled from Montreal to visit her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Flynn, in Queens, N.Y. Sept. 16. She was last seen leaving the Flynn home Sept. 18 for a shopping trip in Manhatten. O'Conner said that upon confirmation of the identity of the victim, the Warburton family asked authorities to deal with the British embassy in the investigation. The woman's father, John Warburton, an engineer with a Montreal oil company, came to Canada from England about three years ago. Miss Warburton, who lived with her parents, was described as "very popular" but a quiet girl. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing maroon corduroy slacks, black stockings and shoes. Apair of maroon corduroy slacks was found in the suitcase with the torso. The victim's arms and legs were found the next day also wrapped in plastic in a men's room at the station. Her head remained missing. An autopsy on the remains indicated that she had been strangled, police said. |

Friday, September 26, 1969 BODY FOUND IN STAMFORD MAY BE MONTREAL WOMAN Stamford (UPI) Police in Stamford today plan to check the fingerprints of a missing Canadian woman in their probe of the death of a young woman whose dismembered body was found in a railroad station here. A possibility that the young woman may be a 20 year old beautician from Montreal who was reported missing by relatives while on a vist to New York led to the fingerprint check. The young woman was identified as Margaret Warburton by the New York Missing Persons Bureau which said her description closely resembled the dead woman. Stamford Detective Captain Thomas O'Conner early today refused, however, to identify the missing woman until the fingerprint check was made. The torso of a young woman was found Monday in a yellow suitcase in a locker at Penn Central station. Her arms and legs were found the next day at the station wrapped and stuffed in a trash basket in a men's room. An autopsy disclosed the woman had been strangled. She was estimated to have been between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8, between 110 and 130 pounds and between 20 to 35 years of age. A pair of corduroy maroon slacks were found with the torso inside the suitcase. The Warburton girl was last seen Sept. 18 by a cousin, Bernadette Flynn, as she left the Flynn residence in the Middle Village section of Queens for a shopping trip in Manhatten. She had arrived in New York the previous day from her home in Pierre Fons, a suburb of Montreal. Miss Warburton was 5 foot 6 and weighed 120 pounds. Miss Flynn said she last saw her cousin dressed in a maroon sweater, maroon corduroy slacks, black stockings and shoes and a black shoulder bag. |

In 1969 - this station could have been known as Penn Central RR Station. The names of the stations appear to be related to the OLD RR system, when there used to be numerous RR companies. For instance: Penn Central RR, Sante Fe RR, etc. Now they are all AMTRAK.
