| ZODIAC'S VICTIMS There's no question about it, he's a man who loves publicity. He's an extremely dangerous psychopath. I don't see a word of remorse in any of the letters. He seems to glory in what he's doing." Martin Lee Chief of Detectives, San Francisco |

The Oakland Tribune
Fri. September 26, 1969 CORRODED TIME BOMB IS FOUND IN TILDEN PARK A time bomb that failed to go off was found on the leg of a Pacific Gas and Elictric Co. cable tower in a remote section of Tilden Regional Park yesterday. The corroded state of the timing device, a clock, indicated the bomb may have been there some time. In June of 1968 three PG&E steel towers carrying transmission lines were blasted to the ground in the hill area of Roundtop Regional Park above Skyline Boulevard. In May of this year andother transmission tower near Skyline and Park boulevards was found damaged by explosives. Yesterday's discovery was made by a PG&E workman assigned to wash the power line insulators on the tower. Demolition experts from the Concord Naval Weapons station said the bomb consisted of an electrical cap and a plastic explosive material wired to a small battery and clock mounted on a board. The minute hand of the clock was bent and the clock wired so that electrical contact would be made when the minute had reached the half hour. The clock apparently had failed and stopped before contact was made. The blasting cap and explosive had been attached to a leg of the steel tower about eight feet up from the base. A wire led to the ground and the board with the battery and clock in the brush a short distance away. PG&E officials said the transmission lines in the hill area are patrolled periodically. The washing of the insulators is done yearly, usually just before winter, to remove accumulated dust and dirt that can cause short circuits when it rains. A large section of the East Bay, including most of Berkely, Albany, Kensington, and Richmond is served by the transmission lines attached to the tower.

When I went looking for this article last night, I found other subsequent bombs placed at PG&E locations at other times, one having exploded and knocking out power to a local region for a while. Was this just activists doing this to make a point ?? One such bomb that went off was phoned in.The caller stated the bomb was the responsibility of a group called "the red guerrillas".
Just found this interesting as to the time, location and the fact that Faraday's dad worked for PG&E. Probably nothing, but wanted it said at least. I guess this just could have been activists trying to make a point.

I understand there was a lot of activism going on back then and a lot of bombs going off and bomb threats in the name of various causes, but was there any sort of activism against Pacific Gas and Electric ?? Or companies like that in general ??
